the new southern table.

the new southern table.

And, after a two-month hiatus, I am back. In those two months I have been on trips to Birmingham, Mobile, and Fairhope, Alabama; Nashville, Tennessee; Charleston, South Carolina; and Pembroke, Virginia (some places more than once). And the one thing each of these trips had in common was an amazing array of delicious southern delicacies. Most recently, in Charleston, South Carolina, I met with my friend from Birmingham, Alabama, and discussed his new cookbook– due out in February 2014. Brys has taken a grouping of his favorite, quintessential southern ingredients and devoted each chapter of his forthcoming book to each ingredient. The first is okra. I am going to try to get him to share at least one of his recipes with me prior to publication, so stay tuned. In the meantime, feast your eyes on his beautiful book cover. Oh, and did I mention– Brys not only created all of the recipes, he also took all of the photographs. Swoon.Β  For more Brys, go to brysstephens.com.
